PCS系統(tǒng)完成對工藝過程的監(jiān)測和控制，工藝過程的主要參數(shù)為溫度、壓力、流量、液位、界面、密度、含水、轉速、震動等的監(jiān)測控制和報警，常用的控制為PID控制，包括分程和串級等。PCS系統(tǒng)的核心是RS3控制系統(tǒng)，它是Rosemount 公司在70年代中期推出的DCS系統(tǒng)，經(jīng)過多次的升級和改進，具有很好的穩(wěn)定性和擴展性，功能完善，使用靈活等特點。RS3提供標準的PID模塊，可方便的組態(tài)PID控制功能，同時RS3系統(tǒng)的CB（Control Block）模塊提供方便連接功能，可以將各種基本的功能塊組合成復雜的控制方案。為保證過程控制的無擾動切換,對單回路，由自動狀態(tài)切換至手動狀態(tài)時設定值（SP）值跟蹤過程值（PV）值；對串級回路，主回路鎖定在自動模式，如果副回路不在遠程模式（remote），則主回路的輸出跟蹤副回路的設定值，如果副回路在手動模式，則副回路的設定值跟蹤過程值（PV）值。
下圖所示為兩列同軸的兩級壓縮機的級聯(lián)、負荷分配及進出口壓力控制方案，兩列壓縮機可同時工作，也可單列工作，前后兩級的入口壓力變化與出口壓力變化的比較結果控制壓縮機的轉速，保證壓縮機的負荷平衡和平穩(wěn)運行。
如圖：
① 低壓（一級）入口的壓力由分程控制PIC-5131控制，其設定值由操作員設定。
② PIC-5131的輸出同為FIC-5134和FIC-5135的遠方設定值。如果一列壓縮機不運行，則該列信號不影響壓力控制，壓力控制由運行列完成。
③ PIC-5131的參數(shù)應當在兩列同時運行時整定，當為一列運行時，相應的控制響應將會較兩列同時運行為慢，可確?？刂菩Ч姆€(wěn)定。
④ 高壓（二級）入口的壓力由分程控制PIC-5252控制，其設定值由操作員設定。
⑤ PIC-5252的輸出同為FIC-5255和FIC-5256的遠方設定值。如果一列壓縮機不運行，則該列信號不影響壓力控制，壓力控制由運行列完成。
⑥ PIC-5252的參數(shù)應當在兩列同時運行時整定，當為一列運行時，相應的控制響應將會較兩列同時運行為慢，可確?？刂菩Ч姆€(wěn)定。
